Feb 6 2024 SL Chamber minutes

Present: Carol Ferguson, Mona Stafford, Karen Carpenter, Debby Carpenter. Henry Netzer, Brad and Althea Sondahl, Charlene Phipps, Mitzi Michaud, Colin and Mandi Conway, Becky Demers, Lana Young, and Heidi the massage therapist.

A presentation by Henry Netzer of the new USS Idaho submarine, encouraging supporters. He explained the work at the Farragut Acoustic Research station, testing scale models of submarines… USS Idaho SSN 799 will be christened in Spring 2024, and put in service one year later. January Minutes: Karen moved to accept, Mona seconded, passed.

February Treasurer’s report $ 725 added early, bringing balance to $1407.17

After NITA payment of 563.86 balance $843.90

$620 more in memberships added later bringing the balance to $1473.90

Gritty Land Development is a new member.

Trail fund; Moved 1000 to pay for trail work, balance 800.59

Outhouse races Sedlmayer’s won, Craig and Michelle won the chili

Outdoor Show in Spokane will be: Feb. 17-18 9-5 Saturday, 10-4 Sunday. Volunteers are encouraged to help promote our area.

North Idaho Tourism Association: current 2024 budget and similar amounts for 2025:

Base allocation $ 3,000.00 to spend on projects we produce

Cash match $867.22 money we must pay to receive the funds in addition to our annual fee This is 14% of the money we “get”..

Lana Young Practice is growing open Wed-Friday in Spirit Lake. With her was Heidi the massage therapist who is at Lana’s Mondays and Wednesdays, and at Timberlake PT Tuesdays and Thursdays

Althea Sondahl The Historical Society and Historical Commission are trying to preserve the historic aspects of our town, currently trying to secure funding for the Woolen Brown from the Spirit Lake Urban Renewal Association..

Marc Kroetch is reopening the bike shop in Spirit lake, March 1– Fresh Air 2.0 He will be liquidating older inventory and decide future direction for the company… The Mercantile building is fully rented with lots of interesting businesses.

Mandy Conway Winter should be a slow time but, Sedlmayers has lots of events even in the winter: Valentine’s Day dinner is sold out. The March Bacon pairing meal will be on the 2nd Wednesday , in A April it will be the British Pairing meal. On 3rd Wednesdays paint and sip. The 4th Wednesday in March will be Roll your own sushi. Murder mystery in April

Shane with Intermax Internet suggested businesses could save money with their phone plans.

Charlene Phipps City Council here to be aware of what’s happening in the community.

Mitzi Michaud with Parks and Rec, continuing to present many activities for the communityl.

Mona Stafford There will be a non alcohol Superbowl party at Comm. Center. Cornhole Wednesday nights, Fit and fallproof Tuesday and Thursday mornings…

Carol Feruson Story time, after school programs, and gardening programs all coming up, including local edible plants…

Althea Sondahl talked about importance of having a community sign, as reminded by Mrs. C.

Becky Demers said the sign they are looking into will cost $60K, possible $250 per 15 seconds for a month…

P and P Portapotties provided service for the Outhouse Races-briefly discussed as alternative for the Bike trail portal.
